Conscious Self-Evolution: Come Forward as a New Norm

#7 in a Series of 10

Code 33: Come forward as a new norm, not as superior or exceptional. ~Barbara Marx Hubbard, 52 Codes for Conscious Self-Evolution

My grandson, Cooper, is almost two years old. I was thinking about all the different stages he has been through with learning to roll over, crawl, and walk. There were so many of us cheering him on at each step. Encouraging, giving him a hand, and uproarious applause. He responded by lighting up the room with a smile and a sign of victory.

Now, that he is almost two years old and continues to develop, we don’t cheer for him when he rolls over, crawls and walks. This is a new norm. He doesn’t stop to see if anyone is watching him. He walks, he crawls, he kicks the ball. He has moved on to other things using wonder and curiosity for learning language, music, and fine motor skills. He has joy in his achievements and there is applause and laughter and support, occasionally. Now, the things he has mastered are not celebrated as superior to anyone else.

When you embrace conscious self-evolution, you may be amazed and astonished at the insights, patterns, and connections. It may feel like you have a new magic wand, and you are astounded at how things are manifesting. Your eyes are wide open to something that has been with you all along and it feels incredulous and exciting!

As you continue to notice flashes of freedom, and tune into higher frequencies, the inner metamorphosis you are experiencing will become normal. When you wake up in the morning, you will automatically listen to your intuition. It will be normal to wonder what your higher wisdom is sharing with you through a song that is playing in your head. Before getting out of bed, you will write down the dream from last night or tune into the thoughts that are on your mind. As you go through your day, you will make a connection between the question you have been pondering and the answer that comes through a spontaneous conversation or from a billboard at the side of the road.

You are here on Earth to realize your potential and what used to seem exceptional shifts to humility, gratitude, and appreciation.

In 2010, I recorded a video series called Open to Inspiration. Listening and following my intuition had become a norm. Fine tuning my intuition taught me that this was a superpower that we could all cultivate.  I didn’t think of myself as superior until I had conversations with people who had no idea what I was talking about, and they weren’t curious enough to engage with the possibility of intuition and inspiration guiding us all day and night. I had some ego trips about that and for a short time, I felt superior like I was more awake and evolved than the people around me.

Humility came when my daughter and I relocated to California and some challenges happened that I could not solve immediately. Knowing how to open to inspiration did not mean everything happened quickly when things fell apart. The truth is that falling apart is part of the process of evolution.

So, I decided to keep believing, showing up and waiting for the answers. I committed to a daily practice of meditation, journal writing, Tai Chi and writing in a coffeeshop for two to three hours every morning. I stopped driving my car and walked or took the bus so I could focus on nature and messages from the world around me. It was a slow process of emptying that involved being present and trusting even when I didn’t know how this was going to work out.

Just like plants growing in a garden everything grows at a different rate. Lettuce grows quickly and can be harvested soon after planting while the first crop of asparagus takes a lot more cultivation and time to develop a strong root system. The first harvesting of asparagus happens two to four years after planting.

Holding a vision and waiting to see the results may come quickly, in the moment, or may take fifty years. You are tuned in to a field of infinite possibilities and when the time is right, you will have the answer.

You may not know why you are understanding something before someone else. Remember that we are all tapped into a field of possibilities. I was able to see things because other people came before me. Something they said or shared or highlighted, opened the door for me and I was willing to listen and learn. I don’t have all the answers. I have some answers and you have some answers, too.

A few reminders for this stage of Conscious Self-evolution:

  1. Practice gratitude and appreciation.
  2. Make friends with your ego.
  3. Let go of thinking you are superior to anyone else.
  4. Feel humility in your body so the feeling becomes recognizable.
  5. Breathe into the center of your heart.
  6. Create time and space to practice being with the norm.
